Overview
The BEST Forum is a national platform intended to strengthen collaboration among research institutions, universities and industry.
The Forum supports the promotion of research, innovation and commercialisation by bringing together stakeholders involved in knowledge generation, technology development and industry.
Objectives
The Forum seeks to:
- strengthen collaboration between research institutions and industry;
- showcase locally developed innovations;
- promote research commercialisation;
- strengthen relationships between universities, researchers and businesses;
- create opportunities for technology transfer; and
- support the application of research to economic and social development.
Research–Industry Collaboration
A major objective of the Forum is to strengthen the connection between research and the productive sectors of the economy.
Improved collaboration can support the movement of research outcomes and technologies from institutions into practical applications, products and services.
Innovation Showcase
The Forum provides opportunities for researchers, innovators and institutions to showcase technologies, research outcomes and innovative solutions with potential commercial and developmental applications.
Institutionalisation
The Ministry is working towards strengthening and institutionalising the BEST Forum as a sustainable national platform for research-industry collaboration, innovation promotion and commercialisation.
Expected Contribution
The Forum is expected to strengthen Ghana’s innovation ecosystem by improving collaboration among research institutions, universities, industry and government.
