Netherlands Deputy Head of Mission Paid Courtesy Call on MEST Minister
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana, Ms. Wendy Van Meel, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (MP).

The visit was to formally congratulate the Honourable Minister on his recent appointment and to reaffirm the strong and growing relationship between Ghana and the Netherlands in the areas of environment, science, and innovation.
During their engagement, both parties discussed possible areas of collaboration aimed at addressing key environmental and scientific challenges. Notable among the topics were coastal conservation efforts, the effects of illegal mining activities, the advancement of scientific research and STEM education, and the promotion of tree planting initiatives as part of Ghana’s climate action strategies.

Ms. Van Meel expressed the Netherlands’ continued interest in supporting Ghana’s environmental and scientific development goals, while the Honourable Minister welcomed the opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to work together on practical projects and initiatives that would drive sustainable development and environmental protection.
