The Directorate within the Ministry ensures the provision of essential technical expertise and guidance across all phases of policy development, planning, regulation, standardization, program implementation, and project execution within the Science, Technology, and Innovation sub-sector. Comprising distinct units, it serves as a cornerstone for advancing technological progress and innovation within the nation. The Research and Development and Innovation Unit spearhead the cultivation of new technology-based industries within the Ghanaian economy by formulating strategic roadmaps for key economic sectors and crafting policies to promote Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection. Meanwhile, the International Cooperation and Resources Unit strategically fosters international relations, oversees bilateral and multilateral cooperation endeavors, and mobilizes resources to bolster scientific and technological initiatives. Lastly, the Human Capital and Knowledge Systems Unit is dedicated to nurturing national programs aimed at fostering knowledge creation, human capital development, and the establishment of essential infrastructure and research services to bolster the National System of Innovation. This unit prioritizes initiatives such as human capital development, the establishment of science platforms, exploration of emerging research areas, and the preservation and utilization of indigenous knowledge systems. Together, these units form a robust framework geared towards catalyzing technological advancement and fostering innovation within the Science, Technology, and Innovation landscape of the Ministry.
