MESTI Minister Engages World Bank Task Team Leader on Successful Completion of Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small-Scale Mining Project
Accra, Ghana – November 10, 2023
The Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small-Scale Mining Project (GLRSSMP). The closing meeting, held on November 10, 2023, in Accra, Ghana, marked a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between MESTI and the World Bank.
Led by IC Acquah, the project coordinator, and Ms. Madhavi M Pillai, Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist with the World Bank, the event acknowledged the instrumental role played by HE Dr. Kwaku Afriyie in ensuring the program’s success.
During the meeting, Hon. Minister MESTI emphasized the importance of a comprehensive report to guide further initiatives and expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources of Ghana. MESTI is the lead ministry for the project, with support from other key stakeholders.
The project implementation team recognized the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) efforts in contributing to the program’s success. Additionally, a funding package is being prepared to sustain and extend the positive impact of the project.
