Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Promotes Synergy Among MESTI Agencies

Accra, Ghana – November 8, 2023

Today, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, orchestrated a meeting that brought together all agencies under his esteemed Ministry. The primary objective of this gathering was to enhance collaboration and foster a shared sense of purpose among these vital agencies.

The meeting took place in the Ministry’s conference room, providing a platform for Dr. Kwaku Afriyie to address the heads of these agencies. Notably, he acknowledged the significant contributions of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to the nation and encouraged them to expedite the commercialization of their initiatives.

In an effort to streamline communication and accountability, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie directed all agency heads to submit their annual reports to the Ministry by the end of the year. He emphasized that any essential information should be channeled through the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Patrick Nomo.

Highlighting the Ministry’s commitment to environmental responsibility, the Minister tasked MESTI agencies with spearheading the management and promotion of best practices for plastics as secondary resources, not waste.

Each agency had the opportunity to make presentations on their current progress and challenges, fostering a deeper understanding among participants.

The agencies under the purview of the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Innovation include the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), National Biosafety Authority (NBA), National Radiation Authority (NRA), and the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC).

This significant meeting witnessed the presence of all heads of the Ministry’s directorate, dedicated staff, and the esteemed Chief Director, Dr. Patrick Nomo.
