Dr. Kwaku Afriyie Authorizes ITMO for Waste Recycling: COP28 Milestone

Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, officially authorized the international transfer of mitigation outcomes (ITMO) for integrated waste recycling and compost facilities.
In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, officially sanctioned the international transfer of mitigation outcomes (ITMO) for integrated waste recycling and compost facilities. This momentous event took place at the Ghana pavilion during COP28 in Dubai on December 2, 2023.
The authorization letter was signed in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Government, represented by His Excellency Ambassador Felix Werti, solidifying the partnership with the Jospong Group of Companies, led by Executive Chairman Dr. Joseph Siaw-Agyepong. Overseeing the implementation of this groundbreaking program will be the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.
The ceremony, though brief, lasting only 20 minutes, was graced by the esteemed presence of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, highlighting the government’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
Among the notable attendees were the Ministers of Lands and Natural Resources, Energy, Transport, and Sanitation & Water Resources, emphasizing the cross-sectoral collaboration crucial for the success of such initiatives.
