UNESCO Representative to Ghana, H.E. Abdourahamane Diallo, Bids Farewell to Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie

Accra, Ghana – October 12, 2023

H.E. Abdourahamane Diallo, the esteemed representative of UNESCO to Ghana, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), to convey his farewell greetings. This visit was prompted by H.E. Diallo’s forthcoming reassignment to Nigeria and provided an opportunity to express appreciation for Dr. Afriyie’s exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment, and invaluable contribution to MESTI and its affiliated agencies during H.E. Diallo’s tenure in Ghana.

During the meeting, H.E. Diallo took a moment to extend his gratitude to Minister Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, recognizing his dedication, skills, and enduring support throughout their shared journey at MESTI. In his parting message, H.E. Diallo conveyed that he had recommended Dr. Afriyie at the international level and expressed his belief that the Minister would soon be invited to share his valuable experience and insights with the rest of the world.

Minister Afriyie, in response, extended his warm wishes to H.E. Diallo for his next assignment and expressed deep appreciation for the support and cooperation they had enjoyed during their collaboration. Dr. Afriyie also acknowledged the significant achievements of MESTI under their leadership, particularly emphasizing their contributions to Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policy development and implementation.

As the meeting concluded, both parties reiterated the importance of the bond between UNESCO and MESTI, and their shared commitment to fostering progress and development in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
