MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

In Memoriam: Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed

ACCRA, GHANA — Marking one year since the tragic passing of the late Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, who served as Ghana’s Minister for Environment, Science and Technology. On this solemn anniversary, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST) joins the nation in honoring his memory and reflecting on a legacy of dedicated public service.

Dr. Muhammed was a visionary leader who believed deeply in the power of science and innovation to transform Ghana’s development. During his tenure, he championed critical policies aimed at environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the modernization of Ghana’s scientific research institutions. His leadership was characterized by a rare combination of intellectual depth and a compassionate commitment to the people he served.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Muhammed is remembered as a man of great faith and family values. His passing in August 2025 left a profound void not only in the halls of government but also within the hearts of his loved ones and the many lives he touched across the country.

As the Ministry moves forward, we remain guided by the foundations he laid. His vision for a greener, more technologically advanced Ghana continues to be the benchmark for our ongoing projects and future aspirations.

We continue to extend our deepest thoughts and prayers to his widow, his children, and the entire family. May the soul of Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed continue to rest in perfect peace.
