Two-Day Validation Workshop to Enhance National Research and Innovation Funding Agencies in West Africa (SRIFA) Opens in Accra

Accra, 23rd April 2024 – Today, Mr. Cephas Adjei Mensah, Director of the Research and Innovation Support Management (RSIM), officially opened a pivotal Two-Day Validation Workshop aimed at bolstering the capabilities and effectiveness of National Research and Innovation Funding Agencies in West Africa (SRIFA).

The workshop brought together key stakeholders and experts in the field of research and innovation funding to deliberate on strategies to strengthen and streamline the operations of SRIFA. It also seeks to validate research findings and facilitate the co-development of training programmes to enhance the quality and relevance of research activities, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and ultimately contribute to the advancement of research and innovation in the region.

Director RSIM highlighted the significance of the workshop in driving innovation and fostering collaborative research efforts across West Africa. He emphasized the importance of creating robust and sustainable funding mechanisms that will support and advance research and innovation initiatives.

The workshop is expected to facilitate discussions on best practices, challenges, and opportunities in research and innovation funding, as well as to validate proposed strategies and frameworks for SRIFA. Participants will engage in interactive sessions, case studies, and group discussions to develop actionable recommendations and strategies to enhance the effectiveness and impact of SRIFA in supporting research and innovation in West Africa.
