The Ministerial Advisory Board of the Ministry undertook a familiarisation visit to the E-Waste Management Fund on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, as part of its ongoing engagement with agencies under the Ministry. The visit was aimed at deepening the Board’s understanding of the Agency’s mandate and operations, while reinforcing coordination within the sector.
During the visit, Board Members were taken through the core functions of the Fund, including its operational framework, key achievements, ongoing initiatives, and strategic priorities. The engagement provided valuable first-hand insight into the progress made in managing electronic waste, as well as the challenges confronting the Agency, particularly in areas such as financing, compliance, stakeholder coordination, and public awareness. The Board also explored opportunities to strengthen the Fund’s impact and sustainability in line with national environmental objectives.
This visit forms part of the Board’s 2026 Workplan, which is focused on strengthening oversight, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and supporting effective policy direction across the Ministry and its affiliated institutions.
Following the engagement at the E-Waste Management Fund, the Board continued its activities with a meeting held later in the afternoon with the Management of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). The session provided an opportunity for the Board to formally engage the Authority on its mandate and to gain deeper insight into its regulatory, monitoring, and enforcement functions. Discussions with the EPA Management centered on the Authority’s ongoing programmes, key achievements, and operational challenges, particularly in relation to environmental compliance, pollution control, and sustainable resource management. The Board also reiterated its role in providing strategic guidance and fostering alignment between policy objectives and implementation across the sector.
Overall, the engagements underscored the Board’s commitment to strengthening institutional performance, promoting collaboration among agencies, and ensuring a coordinated approach to environmental governance and sustainable development.
