MEST Minister Embarks on Familiarization Visit to E-Waste Fund

As part of his ongoing tour to familiarize himself with key agencies under the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology (MEST), The Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (MP), Minister for MEST, on Friday, 14th February 2025, visited the E-Waste Fund.

The Minister’s visit aimed to gain deeper insight into the operations of the E-Waste Fund, an initiative critical to managing electronic waste in the country. During the visit, Minister Muhammed expressed his commitment to enhancing efforts aimed at tackling e-waste, which poses significant environmental and health challenges.

The E-Waste Fund plays a vital role in supporting projects that address the collection, recycling, and safe disposal of electronic waste, aligning with the government’s long-term environmental sustainability goals. Minister Muhammed also emphasized the need for greater public-private partnerships to promote awareness and effective waste management strategies across all sectors.

The visit was part of a broader initiative by the Ministry to assess the progress of ongoing projects and identify areas for further improvement in the country’s environmental policies. It also marked the beginning of a series of engagements with various agencies under MEST to improve service delivery and the effectiveness of their programs.
