Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah Inaugurates Governing Board of the National Biosafety Authority
The Hon. Minister for Energy and Caretaker Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, on Friday, October 3, 2025, officially inaugurated the 13-Member Governing Board of the National Biosafety Authority (NBA) at a brief ceremony held in Accra.

In his address, Hon. Buah commended the newly constituted Board and charged its members to bring their rich expertise, knowledge, and dedication to bear in advancing the Authority’s mandate. He underscored the vital role of the NBA in ensuring the safe development, transfer, handling, and use of biotechnology and its products in Ghana, in line with the country’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.
The Minister further emphasized that biotechnology, when properly regulated, presents significant opportunities for national development, particularly in agriculture, health, and industry. He urged the Board to collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders, including research institutions, academia, and civil society, to promote innovation while safeguarding public health and environmental safety.
Hon. Buah also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary policy guidance and support to enable the Authority to effectively carry out its functions.
The newly inaugurated Board members are drawn from various institutions and sectors, including academia, research, industry, and the public service.
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Authority, expressed appreciation to the Minister and assured that the Board would work diligently to achieve the objectives of the Authority and uphold the highest standards of biosafety in Ghana.
