Management and Staff Engage with Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO)

Today, the management and staff of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) had the honor of engaging with Dr. Robert Floyd, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), during a courtesy visit.

During the visit, Dr. Floyd highlighted the critical role of the CTBTO in promoting international peace and security by enforcing a ban on nuclear testing. He emphasized the importance of global cooperation and the need for countries to support the treaty’s objectives to ensure a safer world.

MESTI management and staff shared insights into Ghana’s ongoing efforts and commitments towards upholding the principles of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between MESTI and the CTBTO, particularly in areas related to capacity building, technology transfer, and scientific research.

The engagement provided an invaluable platform for exchanging ideas and exploring opportunities for strengthening Ghana’s contributions to the global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation agenda. Dr. Floyd expressed his appreciation for Ghana’s steadfast support of the CTBT and encouraged continued efforts in this regard.

The courtesy visit concluded with a renewed commitment from both parties to work together towards achieving the common goal of a world free from nuclear testing.
