Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford Launches Ghana’s NDCs Revision Process in Accra
Accra, Ghana – July 9, 2024
Today, Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), officially launched Ghana’s revised Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) revision process. The event took place in Accra and gathered key stakeholders committed to shaping the nation’s climate action agenda.
Representatives from various ministries including Transport, Finance, and Lands & Natural Resources were present, underscoring the interdisciplinary approach necessary for effective climate policy. International partners such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Government of Germany, Government of Switzerland, and the African Development Bank also joined, highlighting the global collaboration essential to tackling climate change.
Civil society organizations (CSOs) brought invaluable perspectives from grassroots movements, ensuring that Ghana’s NDCs reflect the needs and aspirations of its citizens. The launch marks a pivotal moment as Ghana prepares to enhance its climate commitments in alignment with international climate goals.
Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford emphasized the importance of inclusive and ambitious climate action, stating, “Ghana is committed to scaling up its efforts in climate mitigation and adaptation. The revision of our NDCs is a testament to our dedication to achieving sustainable development while addressing climate challenges.”
