Hon. Minister Ophelia Mensah-Hayford (MP) Completes Extensive Engagements Across Districts as Part of Her Field Visit Under the Land Restoration Project

The Honorable Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford (MP), has successfully concluded a series of key engagements across several districts as part of her field visit under the Land Restoration project. This initiative focuses on promoting sustainable land use practices, supporting agricultural development, and ensuring environmental conservation across the country.

Bosome-Freho District Assembly: Hon. Mensah-Hayford engaged with district officials and local communities, discussing the implementation of land restoration efforts. The focus was on eco-friendly agricultural practices aimed at reversing land degradation and boosting productivity.

Atwima-Mponua District Assembly: The Minister met with farmers in Botrampa to address issues related to land restoration and sustainable farming techniques. She shared insights on government-supported innovations to improve soil health and agricultural output.

Nkawie: During the visit to the Serebourso community, the Minister emphasized the importance of adopting modern farming practices, such as irrigation and mechanization, to ensure sustainable land use and prevent further soil depletion.

Bedaabuor Riparian Site: At the riparian site in Bedaabuor, Hon. Mensah-Hayford assessed ongoing conservation efforts to restore degraded land and protect riparian zones, which are crucial for maintaining biodiversity and preventing erosion.

Adansi South District Assembly: The Minister engaged with farmers in the Nkonsa community to discuss strategies for advancing rural agriculture through land restoration initiatives. She encouraged sustainable methods that would improve soil fertility and protect the environment.

Obonsu Community: In Obonsu, the Minister held discussions with rice farmers on the restoration of degraded lands for rice farming. She highlighted the government’s commitment to improving rice production as part of the broader land restoration goals.

Twifo-Atimokwa District Assembly: The Minister engaged stakeholders in discussions on collaboration for environmental sustainability, urging local authorities to take active roles in land restoration efforts to combat the effects of climate change.

Aboso and AcquayeKrom: In AcquayeKrom, Hon. Mensah-Hayford met with the chiefs and local leaders, emphasizing the role of traditional authorities in driving land restoration and environmental conservation efforts. She praised their leadership in preserving the environment and promised continued government support for their projects.

These engagements are part of Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford’s ongoing efforts to promote the Land Restoration project, working directly with communities to ensure sustainable land management practices are implemented.
