Hon. MESTI Minister, Ophelia Mensah-Hayford, Launches 60th Anniversary of GAEC

Accra, Thursday, July 25, 2024 – The Honorable Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), Ophelia Mensah-Hayford, has officially launched the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC). Themed “60 Years of Impacting Society Through Nuclear Science and Technology – Expanding Our Frontiers,” the event marks six decades of the GAEC’s significant contributions to advancing nuclear science and technology in Ghana and beyond.

In her keynote address, Minister Mensah-Hayford emphasized the critical role of nuclear science in driving progress and innovation. She praised GAEC’s achievements in harnessing nuclear technology for peaceful and beneficial applications, including energy production, medical treatments, and agricultural improvements. The Minister highlighted the importance of expanding the frontiers of nuclear science to address contemporary challenges and secure a sustainable future for Ghana.

The anniversary celebration will feature a series of events and activities aimed at showcasing the GAEC’s pioneering work and exploring new opportunities in nuclear technology.
