Hon. MEST Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed Hosted UK Centre for Ecology Delegation

The Hon. Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MEST), Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (MP), hosted a high-level delegation from the UK Centre for Ecology at the Ministry’s headquarters in Accra on 5th March, 2025.

The meeting focused on strengthening Ghana-UK collaboration in ecological research, sustainability, and scientific innovation. During the discussions, both parties emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise to tackle global environmental challenges, promote green technologies, and foster sustainable practices.

Hon. Dr. Murtala Muhammed underscored Ghana’s commitment to improving environmental management and integrating sustainability into national policies. He highlighted the government’s efforts to promote research and innovation as key drivers in achieving sustainable development goals.

The UK delegation, led by experts from the Centre for Ecology, expressed their support for Ghana’s ongoing environmental initiatives. They also proposed various collaborative programs aimed at advancing ecological conservation, enhancing biodiversity research, and improving climate change resilience.

Both parties expressed optimism that the strengthened partnership would result in impactful research and initiatives, contributing to both nations’ shared goals of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

This meeting marked an important milestone in the growing relationship between Ghana and the UK in the fields of ecology, science, and technology, laying the groundwork for future collaborations that would benefit both countries and the global community.
