Ghana Muslim Students Association Paid Courtesy Call on Hon. Minister of MEST to Strengthen Environmental Collaboration

On Monday, 19th May 2025, the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

During the meeting, the Minister commended the GMSA for their proactive efforts in promoting environmental awareness and their commitment to combating illegal mining (galamsey), which had continued to pose significant environmental challenges in Ghana. He highlighted the crucial role that religious and community groups played in advocating for sustainable environmental practices and fostering grassroots support for government policies.

Hon. Dr. Muhammed assured the association of his unwavering support and encouraged them to continue their advocacy and collaborative initiatives aimed at protecting Ghana’s natural resources. He underscored the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships, including faith-based organizations, in driving effective environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The GMSA representatives expressed gratitude for the Minister’s encouragement and pledged to deepen their engagement with the Ministry to amplify their impact across schools and communities nationwide.

The meeting reinforced the shared commitment between the Ministry and GMSA to work together in safeguarding the environment for present and future generations.
