Exploring Green Investment Opportunities in Ghana: A Successful Collaboration
On July 18, 2024, Dr. Peter Dery, the Director of Environment at the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), expressed delight at the successful completion of a pivotal business trip to Ghana by a delegation from Singapore, led by the esteemed Singapore Minister for Trade. Organized by MESTI, this four-day mission focused on exploring Article 6 carbon projects in Ghana and fostering direct foreign green investments.
The delegation’s visit marks a significant step towards global environmental stewardship and sustainable economic development. Throughout the meetings and discussions held with Ghana’s business community, opportunities for green investments were thoroughly explored. These initiatives aim to mitigate global warming while promoting economic growth in Ghana through sustainable practices.
MESTI played a crucial role in facilitating constructive dialogues centered around leveraging Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to develop carbon projects in Ghana. These projects not only promise to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also create new avenues for international collaboration and investment.
The visit underscored the commitment of both Singapore and Ghana to environmental sustainability and their shared vision of addressing climate change through innovative solutions. It also highlighted Ghana’s readiness to embrace foreign investments that align with its sustainable development goals.
Moving forward, MESTI and its partners are optimistic about the prospects of further collaboration between Singapore and Ghana in the realm of green investments. These initiatives are expected not only to enhance environmental outcomes but also to contribute positively to the socio-economic landscape of Ghana.
