Director of STI, Mr. Kwamena Quaison, Opens 5-Day Capacity Building Workshop for Media Excellence in STI Reporting

On behalf of the Honorable Minister, the Director of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), Mr. Kwamena Quaison, officially launched a 5-day capacity building workshop on Monday, 24th February 2025. The workshop, which ran until Friday, 28th February 2025, focused on enhancing media excellence in reporting on Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).

This initiative was a key component of the UK-GH STI Strategy, where the media was recognized as one of the four pivotal levers for successful implementation. The strategy aimed to build a stronger connection between STI and economic transformation, with the media playing an essential role in raising awareness and disseminating crucial information to the public.

The workshop brought together participants from a wide range of media houses, equipping them with the necessary tools and training to improve STI reporting. These participants were also given the opportunity to compete for grants to support STI-related projects, further promoting the relevance and impact of STI in driving the nation’s economic growth and technological advancement.

The event underscored the government’s commitment to empowering the media to effectively communicate the importance of STI, ensuring that the public was better informed and engaged in the national agenda for transformation.
