CSIR College of Science Delegation Paid Courtesy Call on Hon. Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology
A high-level delegation from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) College of Science recently paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (MP). The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, provided an opportunity for the College to share updates on its operations and engage in productive discussions about its future direction.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Hon. Minister on the College’s key activities, highlighting its role in advancing scientific research and education in Ghana. They also presented a comprehensive overview of the College’s challenges, particularly in areas related to infrastructure, funding, and staffing, which they emphasized required urgent attention and support from the Ministry.
The Hon. Minister acknowledged the vital role of the CSIR College of Science in driving Ghana’s scientific and technological progress. He assured the delegation of the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the College’s needs, emphasizing that strategic collaboration between the Ministry and the institution was essential for enhancing its capacity to fulfill its mandate.
Dr. Muhammed reiterated the need for proper planning and management to ensure the College’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness. He emphasized that the Ministry would prioritize creating an enabling environment for the College to thrive, particularly in areas that aligned with national development priorities such as innovation, industrialization, and technology transfer.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the need for ongoing dialogue and collaboration to resolve the identified challenges and strengthen the College’s contribution to national development. The Honourable Minister assured the delegation that the Ministry would work closely with the CSIR College of Science to develop a roadmap for the institution’s growth and success.
