Courtesy Call on Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford by US Delegation and Local Officials

On August 1, 2024, Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford, the Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI), had the honor of hosting a high-level delegation at her office. The delegation included the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation from the United States, along with representatives from the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and the Nuclear Power Institute.

The purpose of this courtesy call was multifaceted

  1. The delegation extended their congratulations to Minister Mensah-Hayford on her recent appointment, recognizing her leadership in advancing Ghana’s science, technology, and environmental policies.
  2.  The meeting provided an opportunity to brief the Minister on forthcoming events and activities in the nuclear energy sector, highlighting key areas of interest and planned initiatives.
  3. A significant aspect of the visit was to explore and discuss potential collaboration opportunities in the energy sector. Both sides expressed a keen interest in enhancing cooperation, particularly in the areas of nuclear energy development, research, and technology exchange.
