Ambassador of Barbados Pays Courtesy Call on Honorable Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology
Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Barbados, Juilette Bynoe-Sutherland, paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology (MEST), Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (MP), on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, to extend her congratulations on his recent appointment and to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
During the visit, the two leaders engaged in discussions on several key topics. These included coastal conservation, the adverse impacts of illegal mining, sustainable tourism practices, scientific development, particularly in STEM education, and tree planting initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability.
Dr. Muhammed and Ambassador Bynoe-Sutherland recognized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in addressing shared challenges and opportunities within these sectors. They explored ways to exchange knowledge and expertise, focusing on innovative solutions for global environmental issues.
The Honorable Minister also took the opportunity to formally invite Her Excellency to the upcoming Science and Technology Fair scheduled for May. The fair is set to highlight groundbreaking advancements in science, technology, and innovation and will further enhance the relationship between the two countries.
This meeting marked the beginning of what is expected to be a promising collaboration between Barbados and MEST in advancing mutual environmental and technological goals.
