GNPAP Steering Board Meeting

The inaugural meeting of Ghana National Plastic Action Partnership (GNPAP) Steering Board was held in Accra this morning.

The Steering Board is the highest decision-making body of the GNPAP and is composed of senior leaders from government bodies, businesses, civil society, academia and research, and innovation centers across Ghana.

Addressing the meeting, the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng said ”The Government of Ghana, with the leadership of MESTI, is committed to establishing the necessary foundation for the transition to a circular economy ensuring sustainable plastics management.”

He said in 2020, ”MESTI will work diligently to ensure that the NPAP identifies and engages the many Ghanaian innovations emerging in the sustainable plastics ecosystems and supports these great initiatives with various resources – financial, technological and otherwise – to enable these new businesses to grow, creating jobs while simultaneously cleaning the environment.”
